Arta Kelmendi-Doko, M.D., M.Sc.

Research Fellow

I am a newly graduated medical doctor from University of Prishtina in Kosovo. For the last few years I have been involved in clinical research within the Department of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the University Clinical Center in Prishtina with a special interest in burn injuries of various severities.

As my long-term goal is to work as a specialist within the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery, I am very happy to have joined the Tissue Engineering Lab within the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, under the supervision of Dr. Kacey Marra. My initial responsibilities consist of characterizing adipose-derived stem cells, and encapsulating the cells with various matrices. Furthermore, I implant the stem cell construct into an animal model, and follow the animal throughout the experiment, where I finally characterize the explant.

My special interests lie in Burn Management in Emergency Medicine, Pediatric Reconstructive Plastic Surgery, Cosmetic Surgery, Interventional Radiology and Magnetic Resonance Imaging. In addition, I enjoy travelling, fine arts, jogging, and biking.
