Education:

I attend the University of Pittsburgh and am working toward a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering with a concentration in Cellular and Medical Products Engineering and a minor in Chemistry. After graduation, I plan to attend graduate school or conduct research in the bioengineering/biomedical field.

Current Project(s):

I am working with Amir Mahan Ghaznavi, MD and Lauren Kokai, BS on their projects involving the analysis of peripheral nerve repair.

1)      Using neurotrophic factors to promote peripheral nerve repair in a rat model.

2)      Comparing different synthetic nerve conduits to repair peripheral nerve defects.

3)      Fabrication of a degradable polymer nerve guide which incorporates polymer microspheres for the sustained delivery of protein growth factors.

4)      Development of video gait kinematics as a method for the quantification of functional recovery following nerve regeneration in the rat model.

Publications:

I do not have any publications to date, but through my involvement in this lab, I aspire to improve upon this section.

Personal Interests:

I am currently a member of the Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES), Tau Beta Pi Engineering Honor Society Lambda Chapter, National Society of Collegiate Scholars (NSCS), Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society, and Pittsburgh Association of Leadership and Success (PALS).

For fun, I like to play all kinds of sports and hang out with friends. I am a member of the University of Pittsburgh Lacrosse team. I also enjoy swimming, running, and exercising; watching college football and basketball, movies, and tv with friends; and listening to all kinds of music. I also enjoy being outdoors hiking, camping, and travelling and am an Eagle Scout.
